The Power of Instagram for Mentoring Trainee and Aspiring Lawyers – Megan Hulme – S5E24

This week on the Legally Speaking Podcast, our host Robert Hanna welcomes Megan Hulme.

Megan is a trainee solicitor at an international law firm based in London. She previously worked as a Paralegal at Mischon de Reya LLP and Armstrong Private Client Solicitors Ltd before securing her training contract at the tail end of 2020.

Megan is the Founder of ‘It’s All Hearsay’ – a popular Instagram page that has grown by its thousands in just a year!

Megan founded the Instagram page to offer help and guidance to all aspiring lawyers on securing training contracts since she had struggled herself and felt that this was a topic not talked about often amongst her peers. Since then, ‘It’s All Hearsay’ has grown into a great resource for all things updating CVs, mentorship, interview guides, networking and more!

In this episode, Rob and Megan discuss:

  • Content creation for the legal industry and what this looks like for Megan
  • Megan’s inspiration behind the online community at ‘It’s All Hearsay’
  • The meaning of ‘lawfluencer’ and its origin
  • The role of a trainee during the pandemic and their day-to-day tasks
  • What’s to come from Megan and ‘It’s All Hearsay’
