Welcome to the Legally Speaking podcast, recording live from Legal Tech Talk in London.

01:01

I am joined by name, title, and organization.

01:04

So my name is Anna Balabina.

01:06

I am the CFO and co-founder of casepal.

01:09

You absolutely are.

01:10

It’s a pleasure to have you on the show.

01:11

So in one sentence, what is 1 problem you are trying to solve in the world of legal?

01:16

Okay, that’s interesting, man.

01:18

The efficiency.

01:19

That’s the one.

01:20

The time saving is right now the problem because there are more and more documents, more and more information to work with.

01:26

And casepal is enhancing efficiency for lawyers.

01:29

And who doesn’t like more efficient systems and processes and technology?

01:33

Okay, so what is 1 assumption about legal tech you think most people still get wrong?

01:39

The tech can replace lawyers.

01:41

Okay.

01:43

which it cannot.

01:45

AI and technology are just tools that help lawyers.

01:48

Okay, so they’re enablers.

01:49

They’re not necessarily replacers.

01:51

Okay.

01:52

Have you been to any sessions at Legal Tech Talk or are you taking part in any sessions or any particular you’re interested in hearing?

02:00

No, I’m most of the time just meeting lawyers and networking with them.

02:04

So it’s I’m more just getting to know people and connecting and getting insights in the industry.

02:09

Yeah, and you’re getting yourself out there and meeting people.

02:11

That’s what it’s all about.

02:12

New, interesting, exciting people.

02:14

This year’s themes are law and tech, evolution and revolution, access to justice, purpose-driven law, collaboration, and smart compliance.

02:22

Which of those speaks loudest to you right now and why?

02:26

I think the first one, right, was about law and tech and revolution.

02:29

Yeah, that’s the one for me.

02:31

Okay, yeah, and obviously you’re building on that at the moment.

02:33

Yeah, of course.

02:34

Tell us a little bit more about casepal.

02:36

So we’re making the enterprise-grade AI ecosystem for legal.

02:40

Basically, we’re helping lawyers to summarize, draft, translate, analyze,Documents just within seconds within one connected ecosystem for everything.

02:49

Yes, I love that.

02:50

Okay, and this is obviously Legal Tech Talk.

02:52

What’s been your biggest surprise about Legal Tech Talk 2025?

02:57

how good it is.

02:58

It’s actually surprising for me.

03:01

It’s really high quality event.

03:03

And there’s a lot of great people and companies like here.

03:06

For example, I met you.

03:07

Yeah, well, that’s what it’s all about, right?

03:09

You get to meet people and see new faces and new places and spaces.

03:12

I’m here for it.

03:13

Okay, let’s fast forward five years.

03:15

Let’s say we’re in 2030.

03:17

What do you hope will be finally fixed in law?

03:21

Repetitive tasks.

03:23

Okay.

03:23

Organization of the documents or trying to find information manually through the things.

03:29

I think that’s going to be solved.

03:30

That’s going to be gone.

03:31

Okay.

03:32

And then what’s been your biggest aha moment at Legal Tech Talk thus far?

03:39

I think I saw much more tech companies evolving in comparison with recent years.

03:46

I came here and I was like, the industry is actually legal tech industry is growing.

03:50

That was the for me.

03:52

Absolutely.

03:52

And I think that’s a lot of people have said that, particularly those who came last year, how much bigger it is, obviously this year as well.

03:58

Okay, as someone who’s obviously running an organization, why is it important to come to conferences like this specifically?

04:06

I think for the purpose of meeting people and getting insights, the ones that you cannot get without talking to people, there is not everything that you can read in books or Google.

04:16

So there’s a lot to learn here, a lot to get to know also about the industry, what lawyers and potential customers think of, and a lot of ideas to get also for the development.

04:26

Yeah, no, I’m here for that.

04:27

Okay, so if people want to know more about casepal or indeed you, where can they go to find out more?

04:32

Is there a website, any social media handles?

04:34

Feel free to share them.

04:36

to find.

04:36

So it’s casepal.co or just on LinkedIn casepal.

04:40

04:41
